Diamond Certificate – Our Guide

• Purchase a stone with a certificate with the highest reputation for its grading.

• Look further than colour and purity.  These alone do not determine how beautiful your stone will look.

• The cutting, proportions and symmetry will determine the life and brilliance of the stone. The differences should be explained.

• Viewing stones to compare, accompanied by expert explanations would be ideal.

• If considering a fancy cut stone, i.e. other than a round brilliant cut, the way in which the stone has been cut and laid out will make a huge difference to its appearance.  Again, explanation and viewing will illustrate the differences clearly.  Two emerald cuts both E VS1 for example, will look very different if one is of fine proportions and the other deep and lumpy.  Not a stone for your ring!
